LG ice maker will not dispense cubes without...

Question

I have an LG side by side model fridge/freezer. The ice/water dispenser is located in the left door. It dispenses water just fine but if you select whole ice cubes it crushes them and they come out a mess and fall all over the place. It's almost like it crushes them no matter if you select crushed or whole cubes. It is about 3 years old and it has never worked right.
