I'm 17 and I've had peristent mild acne ever since I was 13. It drives me insane. I think if I was straight it wouldn't bother me near as much, but with lookism in the g*y community it really bothers me. I've even resorted to wearing foundation to cover the pimples and marks. Have any of you dealt with acne?

  1. Yes. A pimple here or there. It's not a big deal.

  2. HELLLLLL yes! It is driving me insane! That's one thing that bugs me about being a L*****n, my girlfriend like never has ONE pimple and I always have a bunch, and where we're both girls I'm sometimes comparing that with her and it makes me sad because i really hate acne lol. Anyways though, mine's starting to go a bit, thanks to pro-activ facial scrub and mask, steaming my face everyday and Vishy spot-on breakout cream. :D maybe some of these would work for youu ??? :)

  3. yeah and the best solution I've found is to not get stressed out about things thats what encourages it and brings it on for me. The best stuff I've found to get rid of it and keep it in line however is the Oxy clean acne stuff.

  4. I had bad Acne when I was 13 too. (I am g*y) but I do not have the acne scares that my younger brother has, and he is straight.

as for looks I really think both the g*y and straight guys worry about there looks, whether to impress the ladies or the guys, but I have noticed that we worry about are looks a lot more. I have also noticed that Avon, Mary Kay, and other skin care Co. that were manly for woman are making more products for men.  I have used Avon myself.  I hope this helps.

  5. I have the same problem i was even on medication for a few years but now am off but still have mild outbreaks. I find oxy products like facewash and cleanser really help if its available in your country.

  6. I was very fortunate to have never struggled with acne.  On occasion I have had zits, some of them almost like cysts.  In those cases I went to the dermatologist and had the zit/cyst (whatever it was) injected with a steroid called Kenalog.  It takes the inflammation away in about two days.

If your acne has been plaguing you for so many years, you really should see a dermatologist.  The first thing the dermatologist will try is topical medication -- usually a retinoid such as Retin-A, Tazorac, Differin -- and possibly oral antibiotics (tetrycylene, Minocin, erythrymycin, or Dynacin).  If those don't work and your acne is bad enough, you may be a candidate for Accutane.  Accutane is an oral medication --basically an extremely high dose of a synthetic Vitamin A -- that is the only thing proven to  "cure" cystic acne.  You take it for 12-14 weeks and it's not without side effects.  You need to have blood work done and it's a last resort for most people.  But it can be a godsend if nothing else works.

See a doctor.  Acne can cause permanent scars.  Good luck!

  7. Do NOT wear foundation to cover acne.  By putting make up over your pores you're just making sure they're more easily clogged and dirtied.  I saw many girls in middle school who had a pimple here and there cover it with make up and within a year their acne had become out of control.  You have to let your pores breathe.

Wash your face often-- if you have the money try Accutane or Proactiv.  They really do work, though they are expensive.

  8. Before it has. But now my doctor gave me these two creams to help and it works great! With constant (twice a day) application, my skin became as clear as the sky. Let me go get the labels...

Okay, so I use Cetaphil and Ziana. Grab some. Put some Cetaphil on twice a day ( I do one in the morning and one at night) or after school; when your skin can get kinda oily. Apply the Ziana after you use the Cetaphil. The acne disappears in like, 3 days. Your skin will be flawless in a week.

Oh, and be sure to drink lots of water!
