LIGHT SWiTCH!?

ok my switch broke on my light switch so i went to walmart and brought anthor one but once i get home to install it the switches are different. The one that was on the wall only has 2 screws with a red wire running to the left side and a black one running to the right side...but on the new one theres 3 screws 2 on the right thats gold and 1 on the left thats black. so where do the two wires coming from the wall go to?

You bought a three way switch but it will work.  Hook one wire to the black s***w and the other wire to one of the other screws and try it out.
