Rain has stopped the third day’s play between Australia and Sri Lanka in the second Test of the three-match series at the Pallekele International Stadium in Sri Lanka on Saturday, September 10, 2011.
The tourists had gained a solid 237 runs lead before the umpires decided to stop play due to heavy showers. Australia’s first innings score has now been stretched to 411 runs for the loss of seven wickets in 132 overs.
Earlier, the home team was all out for 174 runs after their captain http://www.senore.com/Cricket/TM-Dilshan-c2691 had decided to bat at the toss.
The Kangaroos gave a solid reply to the first innings total of the home side, as they have managed to take their score past 400 with three more wickets still remaining.

The star all-rounder managed 36 runs in his outing and missed an in-swinging delivery from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ranasinghe-Arachchige-Suranga-Lakmal-c83928. The ball came in from length and clipped the stumps, as Watson had shouldered arms.
Next to go was Hughes, who was struggling against the quality spin bowling of Suraj Randiv. He also scored 36 runs in his steady knock. The ball spun sharply taking the inside edge of the bat and popped up in the air off the pads to the fielder positioned
at short leg.
Australia’s skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MJ-Clarke-c1978 missed out, as he was caught in the slips after contributing just 13 runs to the total, leaving the team in a spot of bother at 116 for the loss of three wickets.
However, the innings was given momentum by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MEK-Hussey-c1942, as both players scored centuries. They put together 258 runs for the fourth wicket before the latter gave his wicket away after collecting 142 runs.
