The hosts had won the toss and elected to field first. The team’s skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/TM-Dilshan-c2691 expected some moisture beneath the surface of the pitch, as there had been some rain before start of play.
The start to the Kangaroos’ innings was not an ideal one, losing opener http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Phillip-Hughes-c2185 early. The left-handed batsman has struggled to perform at the top of the order throughout the series and saw another failure today.
Hughes got out without scoring, which will put him under immense pressure. He edged one ball onto the stumps and the team was one down without any runs on the board.
All-rounder http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SR-Watson-c2558 was the next man to be dismissed. He did not look comfortable at all in the middle and finally gave his wicket away after adding just eight runs to the total. He mistimed a drive and the ball flew to the gully region after taking the outside edge where Dilshan did not make any mistake.
Until the first drinks break, Australia were 33/2 with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/RT-Ponting-c2377 unbeaten on 18 and 4 respectively.
Australia made a couple of changes to their playing-eleven for today’s game. Veteran Ponting was back in the side after missing the previous game. He had to rush back home for his child’s birth.
