Rain has forced a delayed start to the second day’s play between http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 on Thursday, August 11, 2011.
The good news for the spectators and both teams was that rain had stopped and play will resume any time soon. The covers were still on the field and the ground-staff was working hard to get conditions ready for play.
Luckily, the drainage system at Edgbaston is very good, which will not cause a big delay to the start of play.
England will be eager to get out in the middle, as the team ended the first day’s play in a very strong position. The team’s skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/AJ-Strauss-c964 put the opposition into bat after winning the toss.

England also came out to bat for a few overs in the final session and ended the day in a commanding position at 84/0.
Earlier, India would have been relatively happy with the total they achieved in their innings. The team was struggling at one stage with 7 batsmen back in the hut for 111 runs.
However, the visitors’ skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MS-Dhoni-c2028 rescued his side from disaster, collecting a valiant half-century. He batted aggressively alongside the tail and ended up being the top scorer with 77 runs.
