The 5th and decisive game of the One Day International (ODI) Series, featuring England and Sri Lanka, took off at the Old Trafford ground in Manchester, on Saturday, July 09, 2011. The first 10 overs of the fixture came to a troubling close for
the tourists after the English side posted an aggressive total of 75 runs without any loss of wicket.   
The final bout kicked off after the hosts won the toss and chose to bat.
The English came out with their regular opening duo, featuring skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/C-Kieswetter-c1206.
In response, the Lankans came in with a slight change in their usual attack as team captain Thillakaratne Dilshan opened the bowling, complemented with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/KMDN-Kulasekara-c1802.
Dilshan came in as the first to bowl, however, to the skipper’s disappointment, the 1st over of the day aided the batting side in producing 7 runs which included a boundary on the 2nd delivery.
However, this was just the beginning for the English. In the following over, owned by Kulasekara, Kieswetter once again punished the Lankan bowling after yielding another boundary accumulating a total of 9 runs from the over.
The Lankans continued with their surprisingly disappointing bowling, making it easy for the English to secure boundaries and doubles.  
Kulasekara then came in with a little assortment in his bowling; however, by the time the Lankan’s over came to a close, Kieswetter once again, making use of a loose ball, whacked it over the rope for a six.  
By the time Dilshan bowled the 5th over of the session, the English pair had accumulated an impressive total of 38 runs with an aggressive run rate of 7.60.
The sixth over, saw a little improvement in Kulasekara’s bowling as Cook resisted with the bat in the first few deliveries. The over produced a slightly less total of 4 runs.
The Lankans finally brought in a change in their bowling attack after http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Separamadu-Lasith-Malinga-c89197 replaced the skipper in the 7th over of the English innings.
However, the change could not affect the English batting, as Cook, once again punished Malinga with a well constructed boundary on the 3rd delivery. The over eventually produced 9 runs.
The opening of the following 9th over came with another boundary; however, to the Lankan’s bad luck, Sangakkara dropped Kieswetter’s edge off Kulasekara’s delivery. Things could not get any worst for the bowler, after the over eventually came
to a http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Close-c51347 with another boundary.
By now, the English had scored 61 runs without any loss, at a run rate of 7.62.
The eventual 10th over came with another change in the Lankan bowling line up, as Dhammikka Prasad came to replace Kulasekara.
The new comer brought a slight control to the bowling side after allowing the English to produce just 3 runs from the 10 over of the session.
