LIVE – India v Australia – 2nd Test – India all out for 191 – Match Update
India were all out for 191 runs in the second Test of the four match series against Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) in Australia on Tuesday, January 3, 2012.
The hosts had won the first Test convincingly and carried onto the same momentum today, going through the Indian batting quickly.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MS-Dhoni-c2028, the tourists’ skipper, won the toss and opted to bat first. It seemed to be a very bold decision, but not a wise one, as the wicket in Sydney had some pace and carry for the bowlers.
The Aussie pacers enjoyed the conditions and bowled superbly with the new ball. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/G-Gambhir-c1447 was dismissed right in the very first over of the match after failing to trouble the scorers.
Veteran batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/R-Dravid-c2229 was the next one to go. He stayed at the crease for quite some time, but just managed five runs off 33 deliveries. He was followed by Sehwag, who contributed 30 runs to the total with the help of four boundaries.
Another senior batsman in the Indian line up http://www.senore.com/Cricket/VVS-Laxman-c2772 failed to make an impression, getting dismissed for two. His wicket saw the team in a spot of bother with four down for 59 runs on the board.
However, the situation was brought under control by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/V-Kohli-c2737, as the pair put on 37 runs for the fifth wicket partnership. They would have liked to carry on, but the latter failed to make most of the start to his innings
and was sent back to the pavilion for 23.
Tendulkar, who has a very impressive record in Sydney, was expected to make a big one in this match, but managed 41 runs with the help of eight boundaries. His wicket left Dhoni fighting in the middle with the tail-enders.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/R-Ashwin-c2228 offered decent support to his captain, as the pair put together 54 runs for the seventh wicket stand before the latter was finally dismissed after adding 20 runs to the total.
The bottom-three batsmen http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Umesh-Yadav-c94625 failed to open their accounts, as the entire team was dismissed below 200.
Dhoni would have been extremely disappointed, as there was no support for him from the top-order batsmen. The flamboyant batsman proved that his decision at the toss was not a bad one, as he remained unbeaten on 57 until the end.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/BW-Hilfenhaus-c1204, who bagged three apiece.
