LIVE – India v http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Yuvraj-Singh-c98364 misses out again – Match Update
India have lost Yuvraj Singh early on day two of the second Test against West Indies at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 on Tuesday, November 15, 2011.
The hosts started the day with five wickets down for 346 runs on the board. Middle-order batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/VVS-Laxman-c2772 was the only unbeaten batsman overnight, as he scored 73 runs yesterday.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/I-Sharma-c1566 was sent as the night watchman yesterday and he got out just at the closing moments of the day. He failed to last long at the crease and was sent back to the pavilion for a duck off the very first ball faced.
However, the home team’s purpose to save a recognised batsman was fulfilled, as Sharma’s dismissal saw a close of the day since there was not any time left to continue playing.
Yuvraj started the day alongside Laxman today and the pair looked to continue scoring runs at a decent run rate. They put on 50 runs for the sixth wicket partnership before the former was sent back to the pavilion after scoring 25 runs with the help of five
boundaries.
The 29-year-old would have been terribly disappointed after missing out on a golden opportunity to score a big one. He was batting nicely and the conditions were also ideal for the batsmen.
The pitch at Eden Gardens was dry and the bowlers had to work extremely hard in order to get wickets. However, the Indian batsmen have been giving their wickets away to lose deliveries since day one of the Test.
Yuvraj continued this trend today and missed a straight delivery from the West Indian skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DJG-Sammy-c1382, who picked up his second wicket of the innings.
The left-handed batsman tried to play across the line to a straight delivery, which missed the bat and struck the batsman onto his pads. The Windies appealed and got a leg before decision in their favour.
The moment Yuvraj was hit on his pads, he looked out and the replays suggested that the umpire had made a good decision.
However, Laxman did not miss out on the start to his innings and went onto score a century. He was joined by skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MS-Dhoni-c2028 in the middle and the pair has guided the total to 433/6 in 107 overs.
