England’s emphatic batsman Kevin Pietersen after playing a staggering innings of 63 runs off 78 deliveries lost his wicket as he helped his side increase a lead on the visitors http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 in the third Test of the four-Test series at  Edgbaston, Birmingham.
The batsman was dismissed on the last delivery of the 93rd over when he was trapped right in front of his stumps by India’s http://www.senore.com/Cricket/P-Kumar-c2143 which left the umpire with no option but to give the batsman leg-before-wicket. At the time of his departure,
the hosts had managed to post 374 runs on the board for the loss of three wickets.
KP played an important role by crafting a handy partnership with fellow batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/AJ-Strauss-c964 and Cook
gave an opening stand of 186 runs.
The 31-year-old Pietersen showed good touch with the bat as he took the Indian batsmen to task right from the word go by exhibiting phenomenal strokes all around the park which gave the fans plenty to cheer about, however, his innings was not only built
on boundaries and sixes but a blend of well timed shots backed by some hard-hitting. The batsman hit nine boundaries and a six in his splendid knock as he ripped apart the Indian bowling attack.
At the time KP and Cook were on the crease, the Indian skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MS-Dhoni-c2028 was clearly looking in a spot of bother as he had run out of ideas against the belligerent English batsmen.
The all-rounder, had scored 203 runs in the first Test at Lord’s which England won by 196 runs and then he knocked 92 runs in the second Test at Trent Bridge, Nottingham which was also secured by the hosts as they won the game by 319 runs.
At Edgbaston, KP once again proved his critics wrong who in recent months had bashed the flamboyant all-rounder for poor show and lack of commitment with the national team, however, he has shown that he is an integral part of the current English outfit by
exhibiting a classy innings.
