Stars’ skipper Cameron White won the toss and opted to bat first on a good batting wicket. He would have been pleased with the performance of his batsmen, especially opener Robert Quiney, who top scored with 97 runs.
The visitors were given a terrific start by the flamboyant batsman and looked like reaching 200 at one stage of the innings. However, a few quick wickets fell towards the end of the innings, restricting the team to below 180 in the end.
Quiney opened the innings alongside wicketkeeper batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Matthew-Wade-c1933, but the latter was unable to make an impression, getting dismissed for five runs.
He was followed by first-drop http://www.senore.com/Cricket/George-Bailey-c1480, who contributed 10 runs to the total before being dismissed.
The Stars were in a spot of bother at that stage of the game, losing two wickets for 31 runs. However, the innings was given a fabulous momentum by Quiney and middle-order batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DJ-Hussey-c1380.
Both batsmen played attacking cricket, smashing the bowlers to all parts of the park. They put on 105 runs for the third wicket partnership before the latter was sent back to the pavilion after a blistering knock of 45 runs from 32 deliveries.
The star Aussie cricketer smashed four fours and one massive six. He was followed by skipper White, who managed just two runs in an unimpressive outing.
Next to go was http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Adam-Voges-c925, who was a touch unfortunate to be run-out after scoring 13 runs.
Just four runs later, Quiney was also sent back to the pavilion. He played an exceptional knock of 97 runs and deserved a century. However, he got out in an attempt to clear the boundary.
The last wicket to fall in the visitors’ innings was that of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/James-Faulkner-c1643, who was run-out for a duck without even facing a single delivery.
Brisbane Heat’s spinner http://www.senore.com/Cricket/NM-Hauritz-c2122 was the pick of the bowlers, taking three wickets for just 18 runs in his four over spell.
