The keeper batsman scored 34 runs with the help of seven boundaries, but would have liked to carry onto the start to his innings and make a big one.
The Kiwi side was in a spot of bother with both openers back in the hut for just 56 runs on the board.

The 21-year-old was dismissed after contributing 19 runs to the total and the team was three down for 78.

Starc was the pick of the bowlers for his side today, taking two wickets in his first Test.
