LIVE – New Zealand v http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 – 2nd Test – Kiwis all out for 150 – Match Update
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 were all out for 150 runs against Australia in the second Test of the two match series at the Bellerive Oval, Hobart in Australia on Friday, December 9, 2011.
The tourists were under immense pressure after losing the opening game of the series and needed to lift their batting performance.
However, the Aussie pacers proved to be too good for the opposition yet again and finished things off quickly.
Youngster http://www.senore.com/Cricket/James-Pattinson-c1653 took another five-wicket haul against the Black Caps. He did the same in the second innings of his debut game in Brisbane.
New Zealand’s middle-order batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Dean-Brownlie-c1349 offered some resistance, scoring 56 runs, but there was no support for him from the other end.
Earlier, Australia’s skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MJ-Clarke-c1978 won the toss and opted to field first. This decision was expected, as the pitch had some grass and moisture in it.
The decision proved to be a very good one, as the Kiwi batsmen struggled right from the start of their innings.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/PM-Siddle-c2197. The ball pitched on length and moved away, taking the outside edge of the bat straight to the hands of wicketkeeper Brad
Haddin.
Next to go was http://www.senore.com/Cricket/JD-Ryder-c1679, who failed to add any runs to the total. He was trapped plumb in front of the stumps.
The Kiwi skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/KS-Williamson-c1813, who contributed 19 runs to the total.
Opener http://www.senore.com/Cricket/BB-McCullum-c1129 stayed at the crease for a long time, but was eventually sent back to the pavilion after scoring 16 runs with the help of a couple of boundaries.
Wicketkeeper batsman Reece Young failed to trouble the scorers and was the sixth wicket to fall in the innings.
The Black Caps were in deep trouble at that stage, losing six batsmen for just 60 runs on the board.
However, Brownlie scored a solid 56-run knock with the help of ten boundaries, guiding the score to 150.
Apart from Pattinson’s five-for, Siddle and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mitchell-Aaron-Starc-c76392 also did a decent job, dismissing three and two batsmen respectively.
