Bangladesh were all out for 135 against Pakistan in the first Test of the two match series at the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 on Friday, December 9, 2011.
The hosts were put into bat by the opposition skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Misbah-ul-Haq-c1972 on a damp wicket. This allowed the Pakistani seamers to attack the batsmen in the morning session.
Off-spinner http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Hafeez-c76898 was given the new ball, considering his solid performances in the One Day Internationals (ODIs).
However, conditions looked good for the seamers and Misbah realised that soon, deploying seamers from both ends.
The move proved to be a good one, as http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Tamim-Iqbal-c2640 early in the session. Tamim only scored nine runs in his short stay at the crease.
Next to go was http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shahriar-Nafees-c2486, who was unable to open his account. He also became a victim to Cheema’s accurate bowling.
Just one run later, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mushfiqur-Rahim-c2045 and all-rounder Shakib-Al-Hasan, who contributed four and eight runs to the total respectively.
This saw the home team under immense pressure, as they were five down for just 47 runs on the board.
However, debutant opener http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammed-Nazimuddin-c77528 offered some resistance, scoring 31 runs with the help of five boundaries. He was unable to make most of the start to his innings and was sent back to the pavilion by Gul.
10 runs later, Bangladesh’s vice captain http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mahmudullah-c1877 was also dismissed. He managed 18 runs in his short outing.
This exposed the Bengali tail, as the team appeared to be dismissed within 100 runs. Elias Sunny and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shahadat-Hossain-c2480 scored two and eight runs respectively, guiding the team’s total past 100.
Lower-order batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Nasir-Hossain-c77146 then batted with a lot of maturity, scoring 41 runs towards the end of the innings. His effort guided the team to 135 in the end.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Abdur-Rehman-c41691 did a terrific job, picking up three wickets each. They got good support from the seamers Gul and Cheema as well, who managed to bag two wickets each in the day.
The Men in Green will now look to post a big first innings total in order to win the match comprehensively.
