The highest scorer of the innings for Pakistan was http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Azhar-Ali-c46890, who scored exactly 100 runs before being dismissed. He was unlucky to be given out leg-before-wicket as the ball had clearly hit the bat before going onto hit the pad.
However, Azhar was happy with his performance, as he finally managed to reach three figures in Test cricket. He looked a touch nervous in the nineties, but got the runs needed to reach the landmark.
The solid right-handed batsman claimed that veteran players http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Misbah-ul-Haq-c1972 offered great support to him, which made his job easier in the end.
Apart from that, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Asad-Shafiq-c46208 also played a nice knock of 59 runs. He was under pressure to perform, as a couple of other batsmen are knocking at the doors to fill the spot in the middle-order.
The 25-year-old was criticised for his innings in the first Test in Abu Dhabi where he played defensive cricket even though the team was in a winning position.
However, today’s innings will give a lot of confidence to the youngster, as he maintained a decent strike-rate.
Younis was the third batsman in the Pakistan innings to take his score past fifty, ending up with 55. He became the fourth highest run scorer for his side in Test cricket and can certainly become the best if he continues to play like this.
Misbah and wicketkeeper batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Adnan-Akmal-c42042 missed out on half-centuries, but both played useful knocks of 41 each.
Sri Lanka’s skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/TM-Dilshan-c2691 managed to pick up three wickets in the innings. He got good support from seamer Dhammika Prasad, who also ended up dismissing three batsmen.
