LIVE – Pakistan v Sri Lanka: 2nd Test – Pakistan shaky at start of day-2 – Match Update
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/United-Arab-Emirates-c3033 (UAE) on Thursday, October 27, 2011.
The Men in Green were in a strong position at the end of day one, finishing with 42 runs without any loss. Earlier, the team had restricted the opposition to 239 runs in their first innings, courtesy a decent bowling performance from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Saeed-Ajmal-c87859.
However, the Pakistan openers http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Taufeeq-Umar-c92889 started today’s proceedings in a shaky way. They were not in the similar flow like the final few overs yesterday and got a couple of chances as well.
Hafeez started the day at 18, but struggled to score runs freely today. He was dropped after adding just seven runs to his yesterday’s total and will now be looking forward to making most of the opportunity he was given.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ranasinghe-Arachchige-Suranga-Lakmal-c83928 was the unlucky bowler, who could have had his first wicket of the morning. He bowled a decent line on the off-stump channel and the batsman tried to force the ball over the covers.
However, the ball did not find the middle of the bat and ballooned into the air towards the short cover fielder http://www.senore.com/Cricket/TM-Dilshan-c2691, Sri Lanka’s skipper.
Dilshan is a very agile fielder and does not miss many chances, but was unable to grab the opportunity this time around. He jumped to catch the ball, but was unable to complete the catch.
Although it was a difficult one, catches like these need to be taken in order to pressurise the opposition.
As the ball was missed by the fielder, Hafeez crossed over to take a single, bringing Taufeeq on strike.
The left-handed batsman was batting on 24 and would have been eying another big one for his side. He got a good ball from Lakmal, but the bowler was once again unlucky, as the slip fielder http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DPMD-Jayawardene-c1397 dropped a sitter.
The ball went right into the hands of the veteran, who failed to complete the catch.
Lakmal was extremely unlucky, missing out on getting two wickets on consecutive balls.
