LIVE – Pakistan v Sri Lanka: 2nd Test – Tea – Match Update
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/United-Arab-Emirates-c3033 (UAE) on Thursday, October 27, 2011.
The Men in Green lost the wicket of veteran batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Younis-Khan-c98325 at the brink of tea, but still were in control of things. They are inching closer to the opposition’s first innings total of 239 and just trail by 57 runs now with seven wickets in hand.
Earlier in the morning session, the hosts lost openers http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Taufeeq-Umar-c92889 early and were in a spot of bother. The pair put together 63 runs for the first wicket, but struggled to get going today.
Taufeeq was the first man to be dismissed in the day after scoring 27 runs. Just one run later, he was followed by his opening partner, who managed 33 runs. Both batsmen would have been disappointed after failing to make most of the start to their respective
outings.
With two wickets down for 64 runs, the Men in Green needed a steady partnership, which was provided to them by Younis and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Azhar-Ali-c46890. The pair did look a touch nervous at the start of their respective innings, but gained momentum during the second session
of play.
They resumed the post lunch session on 95 for the loss of two wickets and continued to build a partnership. Once both got their eye in, they started scoring some quick runs as well.
Azhar completed his 11th Test half-century during the session and will be aiming to finally bring up his maiden ton in the longest format of the game.
Younis also played well and brought up his fifty with a towering six over deep midwicket. He lofted the ball off http://www.senore.com/Cricket/TM-Dilshan-c2691 and the ball sailed over the boundary.
However, the veteran batsman failed to survive a sharp spinning delivery from Dilshan and chopped it onto the stumps. He got out after scoring 55 runs with the help of a couple of fours and one six.
At the end of the session, Azhar was unbeaten on 58 whereas http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Misbah-ul-Haq-c1972 just arrived in the middle and scored one run.
The only wicket to fall in the session went to Sri Lanka’s skipper Dilshan.
