LIVE – Pakistan v Zimbabwe: 3rd ODI – Pakistan off to a flying start – Match Update
The http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Zimbabwe-c3045 in the final One Day International (ODI) of the three-match series at the Harare Sports Club in Zimbabwe on Wednesday, September 14, 2011.
The hosts’ skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/BRM-Taylor-c1200 decided to field first after winning the toss and expected his bowlers to take a few quick wickets in order to pressurise the opposition at the start of their innings.
The pitch did have some bounce and pace in it and was expected to trouble the batsmen in the first hour of play. However, the Pakistan openers http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Hafeez-c76898 attacked the opposition’s bowlers and gained very good momentum in the first few
overs of the innings.
Zimbabwe’s attack was opened by left-arm seamer http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747. He took two five wicket hauls in his first two ODI appearances, but has struggled to perform against the strong batting line-up of Pakistan.
Vitori’s first over in today’s match cost him 11 runs. He was getting some swing and seam movement from the wicket and the ball was also carrying nicely to the wicketkeeper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/T-Taibu-c2630.
However, the young pacer got excited and gave away a couple of lose deliveries to the batsmen, who smashed them to the boundary for two fours in the over.
Young right-arm seamer http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kyle-Malcolm-Jarvis-c71974 shared the new ball with Vitori, but was also expensive in his first over. He gave away eight runs off his first six balls and got hit for a sweet boundary from Farhat.
Pakistan had scored 19 runs off the first couple of overs and Hafeez was on strike to face Vitori in the third over of the innings.
The flow of runs continued, as the flamboyant Pakistani batsman hammered three fours at the start of the over, pressurising the bowler. The third over of the innings went for 15 runs and the Men in Green reached 34 at an average of more than 11 per over.
The Zimbabwean bowlers did manage to stop the flurry of boundaries, but the opposition reached 44 runs off 6 overs with Hafeez and Farhat unbeaten on 23 and 17 respectively.
