South Africa have lost a couple of quick wickets against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 in the final Test of the three match series at the Newlands, Cape Town on Tuesday, January 3, 2012.
The hosts were put into bat first by the opposition’s skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/TM-Dilshan-c2691, who expected the seamers to get some pace and bounce off the wicket.
Dilshan’s decision seemed to be a very good one, as his bowlers got the opposition’s skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/CRD-Fernando-c1292 in this game.
South Africa’s innings was opened by Smith and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/AG-Prince-c949 for today’s game. The pair looked to be in an attacking mood, as they smashed a few boundaries in the first four overs of the innings, guiding the total to 25 at
more than six runs per over.
However, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Smith-c90598 was unable to make most of the start to his innings and was sent back to the pavilion after adding 16 runs to the total off 15 balls. He would have been disappointed at the mode of his dismissal, as the ball was short and wide.
The Proteas skipper edged the ball, in an attempt to smash it over the point boundary, dragging it towards the stumps. The leg stump was uprooted and Prasad got a breakthrough right off his first ball in the match.
This brought http://www.senore.com/Cricket/HM-Amla-c1557 at the crease, who scored back to back half-centuries against Sri Lanka in the Durban Test.
The stylish right-handed batsman looked in good touch, as he was timing the ball to perfection. However, he missed one in-dipper from Prasad and was caught leg-before-wicket for 16 runs off 32 deliveries.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Hamisi-Abdallah-c61368 thought of referring the decision, as the ball was angled in from wide of the stumps by Prasad, but decided to walk out without using the technology. His wicket saw the home team in a spot of bother at 56/2.
However, veteran batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/JH-Kallis-c1692 joined Petersen and the pair counter attacked the Lankan bowlers. They guided the total to 111/2 at the end of 23 overs with the latter batting on 51 and his partner unbeaten on 26.
