After having got off to a faltering start in their previous ODI against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755, which saw them reduced to 56 for 6 by the 20th over, the Sri Lankan team made a comeback with an improved performance in the second ODI (currently being played at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium on June 9), and rode on the strength of a half-century by Tillakaratne Dilshan to reach a stable 125 for 2 by the end of the first 25 overs.
Skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DPMD-Jayawardene-c1397 elected to bat, once again, after winning the toss, and the decision (which had turned out to be a misguided one in the last match, owing to dampness in the pitch) proved successful on a drier pitch which had much to offer the batsmen.
Jayawardene, who managed a mere 3 runs in the last match, moved himself lower down the order, to number 5, for the purpose of providing more stability to the batting line-up – otherwise, the Lankan playing XI remained unchanged.

The Pakistan bowling attack appeared somewhat weakened by the absence of pacer http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rahat-Ali-c83301, but the bowlers seem unable to make any dents in Dilshan’s performance so far.
By the end of 25 overs, with Dilshan and Chandimal at the crease, Sri Lanka stand at 125 for 2, and will be looking to maintain their performance through till the end of their innings.
