LIVE – Sri Lanka v Pakistan: 2nd Test – Jayawardene and Dilshan depart – Match Update
Sri Lanka sink deeper in trouble, as http://www.senore.com/Cricket/TM-Dilshan-c2691 were sent back to the pavilion during the first session on day four of the second Test against Pakistan at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in the United Arab
Emirates (UAE) on Saturday, October 29, 2011.
Jayawardene has been unable to make an impression during the ongoing series against Pakistan. He played really well in a recently concluded home series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746, but has been out of touch since coming to UAE.
The veteran scored only five runs off 34 balls this morning and was cleaned up by a decent delivery by Saeed Ajmal.
Pressure was building on Sri Lanka, as the run-rate was pretty slow. Jayawardene was not playing his natural game and was batting defensively.
However, the star player finally decided to make something happen, as he tried to force a sweep shot against off-spinner Saeed Ajmal. The ball missed the bat and body of Jayawardene and crashed into the stumps, leaving the tourists in a spot of bother at
113 for the loss of three wickets.
Just three runs later, Dilshan was also dismissed. He was unfortunate to be given out leg-before, as the replays suggested that the ball might have missed the stumps.
The ball pitched outside the off-stump and came back off the seam, striking the front pad of the batsman. However, Dilshan was standing way outside the crease and the seam movement would have taken the ball down the leg.
Umpire http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 raised his finger, sending the batsman back to the pavilion.
Dilshan scored five runs in his short stay at the crease and his downfall left the team struggling at 116 for the loss of four wickets.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755’s first innings total and will be under immense pressure now. The team needs one big partnership in order to comeback in the match.
The Men in Green will be eying a big win from now onwards. They have taken three wickets in the first session today.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Junaid-Khan-c77037 took one wicket apiece and will now look to wrap things up quickly.
