LIVE- Virat Kohli smashes 107 runs in the fifth One Day International against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 – Match Update
After being put into bat http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ajinkya-Rahane-c970 knocked a 52-run stand in the opening partnership which provided a solid foundation to the remaining batsmen.
However, it was the phenomenal middle-order stand by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/V-Kohli-c2737 that actually wreaked havoc on the hosts as the two piled 170 runs in the third wicket partnership, taking the sting out of the English bowling.
At the time the two were batting, India were clearly dominating the game and for once in the five-match series the English were bogged down as India dictated the terms at Cardiff.
While Dravid impressed the fans with his calm demeanour, it was Kohli at the other end who was batting superbly and exhibiting tremendous talent as he scored off the English bowlers with zeal and confidence.
It was in the 42nd over when the partnership between Dravid and Kohli was finally broken when the veteran batsman (Dravid) had his stumps shattered by England’s http://www.senore.com/Cricket/GP-Swann-c1501 as he walked off the field after smashing 69 runs in his last one-day
international.
However, just before Dravid’s wicket, Kohli on the penultimate delivery of the 42nd over completed his sixth One Day International century off the bowling of Swann. At this point in time the Indians had managed to post 227 runs on the board for
the loss of three wickets.
Later, the batsman lost his wicket on the 44th over after scoring 107 runs off 93 deliveries.
This was an impressive show from the Indians who are seeking a win in their hectic tour of England where they are yet to secure a victory after having faced defeat in the four-match Test series followed by another beating in the only T20 match of the tour
and then going down by 2-0 in the one-day series.
This is India’s last opportunity to shine in England and redeem some glory as the proud reigning International Cricket Council (http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 in the final.
