The tourists reached 328 runs in their allotted 50 overs. Taylor top scored with 119 runs whereas Williamson also batted brilliantly for an unbeaten 100.
Toss was won by New Zealand’s skipper Taylor, who had no hesitation in mind to bat first. The wicket looked good for batting as it was hard and dry. There was some bounce in it, but it was not a concern for the batsmen.
Taylor’s decision did not seem to be an ideal one, as the tourists lost three wickets in a very short time. However, the skipper guided his side out of trouble with a couple of solid partnerships with middle-order batsmen http://www.senore.com/Cricket/JD-Ryder-c1679 and Williamson.

Wicketkeeper batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/BB-McCullum-c1129 looked threatening in the middle, as he was striking the ball nicely. He was unable to capitalise on his start and got out for 18 runs off 19 balls, leaving the team struggling at 41 for the loss of three wickets.
However, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Taylor-c92915 and Ryder rescued the team out of trouble with a solid 83-run partnership for the fourth wicket. The latter got out after contributing 53 runs to the total.
