Zimbabwe won the toss and elected to bat – a prudent decision, considering the nature of the pitch. Their innings were opened by Sibanda (58) and Masakadza (55), both of whom joined forces for a mammoth opening partnership worth 114 runs as the Proteas bowlers
struggled to break it up.

up a loose fielding performance, dropping a total of two catches.
