LIVE – http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Zimbabwe-c3045 v South Africa – Zimbabwe Twenty20 Triangular Series (6th Match) – First Innings Update – Zimbabwe set Proteas 125-run chase
Following the loss of four early wickets, Zimbabwe found unexpected salvation in the innings of spinner http://www.senore.com/Cricket/AG-Cremer-c947, who took his side up to a total of 124 at the expense of 6 wickets against South Africa in the 6th match of the Zimbabwe Twenty20
Triangular Series, currently being played at the Harare Sports Club today on June 23.
Today’s match poses a do-or-die situation for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/WD-Parnell-c2787, who claimed 3 for 16, appears to have gotten them on the right
track, with an achievable 125-run chase ahead of them.
The match kicked off with Zimbabwe winning the toss and electing to bat first – an expected decision at the Harare Sports Club by now. The innings were opened, as usual, by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/V-Sibanda-c2740 (9), but the pair only managed to score
a combined total of 29 before the latter was dismissed, lbw, by Chris Morris in the 4th over.
Captain http://www.senore.com/Cricket/S-Matsikenyeri-c2395 (22) was the next batsmen to step up to accompany Masakadza, and the
duo got their side up to 54 before Parnell struck in the 9th over, sending Masakadza back to the pavilion, and dismissing http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Malcolm-Waller-c74039 (0) two deliveries later.
By the 9th over, Zimbabwe were faltering at 54 for 4, and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/E-Chigumbura-c1411 (5) was unable to offer his side any respite as Parnell claimed him for his 3rd victim in the 11th over. However, the host team found an unlikely
saviour in Cremer, who scored an unbeaten 36, in addition to establishing a 32-run partnership with Matsikenyeri.
The pair got the team total up to 92 by the 16th over, after which Matsikenyeri was dismissed by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/P-Utseya-c2145 (8), and the two saw their side
up to 124 by the end of 20 overs.
