In reply to Zimbabwe’s 308, the Kenyans were struggling at 97 for the loss of 7 wickets at the end of 25 overs.
The Kolkata wicket was very good for batting and the Rhodesians took full advantage of that. However, Kenya continued to lose wickets at regular intervals and failed to make most of the good batting conditions.
The minnows were put on the back foot early, as they lost their wicketkeeper batsman David Obuya in the very first over of the innings. He failed to trouble the scorers and was out after facing just two balls.
There were high hopes from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746. However, the best player in the Kenyan team was run-out after just adding 1 run to the total.
Steve Tikolo, who is captaining the team, had one more chance to score some runs for his team. He started well and struck a couple of good boundaries, but he was sent back to the pavilion after scoring just 10 runs off 14 balls.
Adding insult to injury, Alex Obanda and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Tanmay-Mishra-c92705 were dismissed on the same total, leaving their team struggling at 44 for the loss of 5 wickets. Obanda scored 23 runs off 36 balls whereas Mishra managed only 4 runs.
A small partnership of 29 runs between Thomas Odoyo and Rakep Patel gave some hope to the Kenyans, but Odoyo got out after scoring 14 runs from 29 balls. Patel looked good, but he failed to score much runs for his team, as he was dismissed after scoring
24 runs.
At the end of 25 overs, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Nehemiah-Odhiambo-c79044 was unbeaten on 13 runs whereas Peter Ongondo had not faced a ball. It is almost impossible for Kenya to fight back in this match as they do not have much batting to come.
Greg Lamb and Ray http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Price-c82662 were good with the ball for Zimbabwe, as they took two wickets each. They were also given a good start from tall seamer Chris Mpofu, who grabbed one wicket.
