LOCOG to come up with new plan to handle expected surge of crowd during London Olympics 2012
The London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games are preparing to deal with the huge amounts of crowd that will be based in central London during the time that the upcoming London 2012 Olympic Games are in progress.
The capital of the United Kingdom will experience a huge surge of overcrowding specially during the three weekends in which the Games will be going on.
The commissioner of transport for London, Peter Hendy, commented on the expected numbers of people in London while talking to The Daily Telegraph in the following manner, “Our approach is to be ready for more people to turn up than you can ever imagine simply
because it is a great place to be. We do not want to discourage people, but we will inform people if they can’t get into central London.”
The measures to be taken by the LOCOG in order to deal with the surge of crowd have speeded up because according to the latest available estimates, the number of people flocking in the capital of England during the time of the London 2012 Olympic Games may
well be three times more than the crowd that fill London at New Year’s Eve.
It is not only the London 2012 organisers that are doing a reassessment of their plans to deal with the huge amount of expected crowd, but other agencies as well as the government of England are also making a change of plans.
The city of London has allocated venues that will be providing live footage of the Olympic Games events as they happen. This footage will be provided on big screens and these will be some of the key locations that would have to be managed in terms of crowd
control. The live big screen coverage will be provided to the spectators in Hyde Park as well as the two central Royal Parks. These two central Royal Parks are those of St James as well as Green Park.
The London 2012 Olympic Games are scheduled to start from July 27 and last till August 12 during which the city of London will be overcrowded.
