LOCOG unveils tentative underground hot spots – London Olympics 2012
The London Organising Committee for the Olympic Games has recently revealed a comprehensive map on its website that provides the tentative hot spots to the commuters who will be coming to the London 2012 Olympic Games by using the underground system.
The map shows a number of hot spots that have been chalked up in order to facilitate the commuters but as these are not definite, they can be expected to change any time and the commuters should not be making unchangeable plans according to the map available
on the official website of the Olympic Games.
Justine Greening, the Transport Secretary of the United Kingdom expressed herself on the matter in the following words, “The Government will lead the way, with staff working and travelling more flexibly during the Games.”
A huge influx of people is expected to bombard the city of London during the time that the Olympic Games will be ongoing in the capital of England. These people will include daily commuters, the people who have taken up residence in the suburbs or within
London.
Apart from that, the commuters will also be increased because of other modes of transportations used by the athletes, members of different country delegations, technical officials and media personnel to name a few.
Overall, there are a total number of 11 million people that are expected to be taking temporary residence in the country during the time of the Olympic Games.
As a result of the huge number of people that are expected to arrive as the Olympic Games draw near, the traffic congestion is expected to increase significantly.
In order to take the necessary steps so that alternatives are available in extreme situations, the TfL has been working in close collaboration with the London 2012 Olympics. These two parties have been in consultations with the businesses in London so that
alternative plans are available in times of need.
The Olympic Games are scheduled to being from July 27 and last until August 12. It will be the third time that the international Olympic Games visit the capital of England.
