LOGGING IN. when i turn my computer on it sends me directly to the username and password screen,

when i turn my computer on it sends me directly to the username and password screen, but i forgot the password and i tried to use safemode, but it acts like its going to start up but takes me to the same username and password screen....it doesnt let anything load completely until the password is entered.....
