LOL, what do you think?

Question

My son is called Laurence but we've always called him Lol. Is he going to have a complex when he is older now that LOL has a new meaning?

So what other nickname can we call him (apart from Lolly which is what we called him when he was little). He wants a nick name before you all start saying his name is fine as it is, he's 8.

i use to look after a boy called laurence and he was known as laurie..............unfortunately he was a large boy and his name only made the teasing at school worse laurie = lorry = wide load.  poor kid, he was such a nice lad too.

Well, usually the shorter version of Laurence or Lawrence is Larry, but if you're son doesn't like that all I can suggest it calling him Laurence

My mates call me Loz. I like that.

Although, in Ireland Laurences sometimes get called Laur or Larr. But that only really works with the accent.

The ones I don't like but have heard before are:

But I think Lol is cool. The only negative thing is because of its new meaning but that wouldn't bother me.
