With the utmost discretion, Ligue 1 giants LOSC Lille have become the major shareholders of Belgian club
Royal Mouscron-Péruwelz who are currently playing in Belgian third division
The name, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Royal-95-c40387 Mouscron-Péruwelz does not really tell us anything but soon, the club could become a known quantity in Ligue 1 football. After winning the Belgian third division a few days back, Royal Mouscron-Péruwelz (RMP) has attracted a lot of attention
in Belgium.
So rapid has their rise been that reigning French Ligue 1 champions, LOSC Lille, have become the club’s majority shareholders as stipulated in an agreement between the two parties earlier this season.
La Derniere Heure took an interview with the team’s manager Philippe Corselis who spoke in detail about his relationship with Lille and also spoke about the arrival of Stephane Pichot last season as an example of growing relations between the two clubs.
“Do not believe that the French have come to us as despots. They have a methodology which is obviously proving on the other side of the border and more importantly, Mouscron has its own characteristics,” said the Belgian.
By forming an association with the Belgian side, Les Dogues have found a way to help develop their players who are not yet ready to play for Lille’s first-team. It’s a win-win situation for both sides as the arrival of Lille players (on loan most likely)
would give RMP a good chance to come to the Belgian league quickly.
“To come in the first division in three years would be great. We are ambitious. Besides, I think that next season, we should aim for a top five finish and why not snag a place in the final round?”
The RMP manager says that playing in Belgian second division would certainly be like playing in a death trap so they will be looking to be more consistent and more ambitious to avoid any slip-ups that could cost them a return to third division.
The club from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Belgium-c2850’s western province of Hainaut have never really managed to establish themselves in the Jupiler League but striking a partnership with a team of Lille’s stature could be the thing they were looking for.
