LOSC Lille coach Rudi Garcia hails “Latin” Joe Cole – Ligue 1 news
Coach of reigning French Ligue 1 champion LOSC Lille Rudi Garcia has suggested that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Joe-Cole-c18694 is one of the most ‘Latin British’ footballers and thinks that the 30-year-old will not struggle to adapt to life at the Villeneuve D’Ascq.
Joe Cole signed for Les Dogues on loan from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 in the final days of the summer’s transfer window after a forgettable 2010/2011 campaign in which the former West Ham man failed to command a regular place in the starting XI.
Cole’s deadline day transfer to the French Ligue may have caught many people by surprise but Garcia is confident in Cole’s ability and believes that the Englishman can follow the paths of the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chris-c9006 Waddle and Glen Hoddle who made a move across the
English Channel many years ago.
While talking to the media, Garcia said that Cole is happy to be at Lille and added, “Our first real contact came on Tuesday, the day before he signed. We had a good discussion. I think he is one of the most Latin British footballers. He should settle nicely
in our squad.”
After losing three key members of the 2010/2011 squad that recorded an historic double, many thought that Lille’s squad was lacking in a few areas. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ireneusz-Jelen-c17008
from Auxerre have given Garcia a lot of depth in his squad.
However Garcia admits that the two new signings will take some time in getting used to the playing conditions at Lille as both players missed a lot of football last season. Question marks remains on the fitness of Joe Cole who managed to play just one full
game in the last eight months but Rudi Garcia would be looking to insert him in the squad as soon as possible.
Polish international Jelen spent most of the 2010/2011 campaign injured but is also looking to recover in time as Rudi Garcia’s men await a tough schedule ahead in which Lille will be playing seven games in the space of just 21 days starting with an away
Ligue 1 game against Saint-Etienne at the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard.
