LOSC Lille consider signing http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sylvain-Armand-c34429 from Paris Saint-Germain – Ligue 1 news
Newly-crowned French Ligue 1 champions LOSC Lille have identified Sylvain Armand, who is currently playing for Paris Saint-Germain, as a replacement for centre-back Adil Rami, who is expected to leave the club in the upcoming summer transfer window.
According to Le Parisien, Sylvain Armand is also keen on making a switch to the Ligue 1 champions. Furthermore, with Adil Rami joining La Liga side http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-Rozehnal-c10594 returning to HSV Hamburg, Lille’s priority for the upcoming summer
transfer window would be recruiting at least one quality defender. Reports suggest that Lille are currently negotiating a permanent transfer for the Czech International, David Rozehnal, with the Bundesliga side.
With http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Adil-Rami-c3639 leaving the club, Coach Rudi Garcia has now identified Sylvain Armand as a possible replacement for the departing Frenchman. Armand’s contract with Les Parisiens expires in the summer of 2012 and the Frenchman is in his seventh season at the
capital club. Though Armand earlier said that he is looking to end his contract at the Parc des Princes, playing in UEFA Champions League next season could be a factor that might make him reconsider his future at a club that would be playing in UEFA Europa
League next season.
A formal approach is yet to be made by LOSC amidst rumours that PSG might offer the central defender an extension to his current contract. Reports suggest that PSG might offer him two additional years to his existing contract. Armand started his professional
career at Clermont Foot and made 28 appearances for the club before joining Nantes in 2004. At Nantes, Armand won the domestic Ligue 1 Championnat in 2001 and after making 118 appearances for Les Canaris, he joined Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2004
for an undisclosed fee. Since then, the 30-year-old Frenchman has made 302 appearances for Les Parisiens and has scored nine goals.
With Lille looking to bring in some new players to Stade Villeneuve d’Ascq, Sylvain Armand might be a valuable addition to a talented squad that achieved its first domestic double in 57 years.
