Ligue 1 champions LOSC Lille left-back http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Emerson-c12442 is attracting considerable interest from Portuguese giants SL Benfica.
Since the departure of Portuguese international Fabio Coentrao to La Liga giants Real Madrid, Águias have been in the market for a new left-back. The club has been linked with a move for highly-rated Rubin Kazan left-back http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Cristian-Ansaldi-c9499 but are also considering
signing Emerson in case the club fails to land the 24-year-old.
The French club has also confirmed that an offer for Emerson has been received. While talking to Maisfutebol, Lille technical advisor Jean-Michel Vandamme said, “Benfica presented an offer about four or five days ago for the acquisition of Emerson.”

The Brazilian was a bit-part member of the Lille side that recorded its first ever domestic double in over 67 years. So far the 25-year-old has made 84 appearances for Lille but it seems that his five-year stint at the Stade Metropole is coming to an end.
Reports in Portuguese TV channel Antena 1 suggest that Benfica have offered Lille two million Euros for the services of the experienced left-back and the French club has reportedly accepted the offer. Furthermore, the Lisbon-based club is offering Emerson
a five-year deal at the club.

However, it has been argued that Emerson’s arrival at Benfica will not put an end to the club’s pursuit of Ansaldi who has made 87 appearances for Rubin Kazan since joining the club from Newell’s Old Boys in 2008.
