were initially linked with moves to the club from Northern http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899.
However, Rudi Garcia has chosen to bring in Argentine central defender Mauro Cetto from Italian Serie A side US Citta Di Palermo. The 29-year-old has arrived at Villeneuve d’Ascq on a six-month loan deal.
The defender has indeed made a swift return to Ligue 1 football after he failed to settle down at Palermo whom he joined from Toulouse only last summer.
“After the transfer of Nolan Roux, LOSC is pleased to formalise the arrival of its new recruit from US Palermo (Serie A) who have agreed to the loan of Mauro Cetto. The Argentine central defender begins his six-month adventure at Lille. With the presence
of Mauro Cetto, LOSC is expanding its staff and especially its defensive area,” read a statement on the club’s official website.
Under contract at Palermo until 2014, Cetto never really imposed himself at the Sicilian side. Since his arrival at the club, Mauro Cetto made just seven Serie A appearances. The Rosario-born defender was also keen on getting some playing time. Unfortunately,
he will not be able to play in Europe as Lille finished in last place in their UEFA Champions League group.
Cetto arrived at the European scene in 2002 when he was signed by Ligue 1 side Nantes. After making 110 appearances, he joined Toulouse in 2008 for whom he played 75 games. His performance for the Pink City club earned him a move to Italian Serie A side
Palermo.
However, the move turned out to be a bad one for the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Argentina-c2841 Under-20 international as he failed to establish himself in the first team. A move to Lille seems to be a win-win situation for both parties as Rudi Garcia has found a player who has enough
Ligue 1 experience while the player is keen on rejuvenating his career once again.
