Question:

LOTS of thick cervical mucus and TTC?? help!

I have been going through a fertility calculator in trying to conceive. According to this, I was supposed to ovulate on Thursday, and I had unprotected s*x that day. Now, yesterday AND today, I am having lots of thick cervical mucus that looks like egg-whites.. It is really thick and stretchy and there is a lot of it.. Does this mean that I am ovulating now? Or does this mean that I have already ovulated? I have been trying to get pregnant for about a year now. I have a 4 year old daughter so I know that I am not infertile. Could this mucus make getting pregnant more difficult? Thanks

  1. Egg white stretchy CM is wonderful!

    Go baby dance!! You're ovulating!

  2. What type of fertility calculator are you using?  Its possible the calculation were incorrect because the EWCM you are describing does sound like ovulation indicators.  So my best guess, would be that you are ovulating today or within the next few days so get to have s*x!!!!!!

However, it is possible this could be what they call hostile mucus in which is doesnt let the sperm through easily.  I doubt this is the case but it still is possible.  They have a test for this.. I think its called post coital or something like that.

To help you know when you are ovulating, which is normally 14 days before your next period is due, try using an OPK (Ovulation Predictor Kit).  When the test is +, it means you will be ovulating in so many hours...

Oh and, you want to get the s*x in BEFORE you ovulate.. its best to have the sperm ready for action when the egg drops rather than waiting for the egg to drop and then the sperm spring into action.  Sperm can live in you for up to 5 days.

  3. This type of CM (egg whites) is usually an indicator that you are about to ovulate.  If it then dries up, it usually confirms you did indeed ovulate.  I would definitely BD soon!  Goodluck and babydust to you!

  4. You should have CM like egg whites while you ovulate so that is a great sign!  If you don't get pregnant this cycle I would go to the doctor. Just because you where able to get pregnant before doesn't mean something hasn't changed.  Once you have tried for a year it is recommended you see a doctor.  Best of luck and baby dust to you!
