ok...first of all when i try to look at music videos or videos on you-tube...it always keeps skipping and freezing...my internet is slow (56k dial up)...and the internet company said the only way to improve this would be to get dsl (i think they're just trying to get me to spend more money) is there any other way to speed up my videos without paying for expensive dsl or cable internet...also windows media player always makes the computer run at 100% and freeze a lot (i don't know why)...and sometimes when I'm on the internet the page I'm surfing closes all by itself (viruses?) i have minuscule virus programs on my computer...and i made the mistake of downloading the mywebsearch ad-ware (which is in quarantine by one of my programs, as it infected my system restore files) there are also dialers on here that i cannot remove but are not in use because of a firewall...i also did a scan last week and my program said i had the virus "Win32: trojan-gen" is that a real virus or is my program spy-ware and bullsh!ting me...i also have had the virus (zango?...something like that) it acts weird all the time but i have never had to restart because of a complete system crash...where can i get an actual good free virus program without it being ad-ware or something...please help

  1. DSL is much faster than dial up 56k, In dial up you cant watch videos on you tube because In dial up Download speed is about 4~5Kbps but in DSL it is about 250kbps~500Kbps. So think how different this is.

Use Norton Anti virus 2008 It get rids of Win32 Trojan which creates application in all folders Norton Automatically deletes it. If you wan Anti virus which is Free you can go for AVG

You can download it from Download.com or any other site

Use Download accelators for downloading it increases performance

Dont use dial up for downloading big files it frezes your computer

  2. Odds are you have a virus, and a slow computer. You also should get DSL. Dsl is not more expensive than dial up anymore.

  3. I do this stuff for a living. I will tell you right now, copy your personal files to an external hard drive or CD DVD and reload your computer back to factory.

Some of the infections you listed are real nasty to get completely out and with the number of them you say you have, if will be faster to do a reload.

As far as the line speed, you are not being lied to. You either need to go to a faster line or you need to download the video to view off line.

  4. I had some of the similar issues that you are having. I don't have any viruses. However, the dial up is the issue for me. I did ask my provider specifically if they were doing away with the dial up (too many problems...not enough service = 1st clue) I was told they were and that I would soon need to upgrade to a faster service. Do a backup, and look into what services are available in you area.

  5. If you want to go fast on the "SuperHighWay" --- then you have to drive a fast "car" --- not a little "putt-putt" like your "56k dial-up service ", which is a joke , and will cause you to grow old waiting around for a download -- even a small one .

Get upgraded to a better service plan ----

I , myself --- would not even get " DSL" -- which might be "up to" 700-750 kbs >> which you most likely will not even get(distance from source , and customer load) ---- BUT --- this service is several times faster than what you have now >> which is really so very limited.

Your question "bespeaks" your knowledge of the internet and your computer usage.

Your system is "freezing up" because your 56kbs dial-up plan is much, much too slow and will not buffer up properly for streaming videos ,etc.

Spend some money and upgrade to a faster service --- get cable if you can -- at the very least DSL to start with ---- and throw that 56kbs service out the window.

  6. You very likely have a virus, and if Zango's on your PC you definitely have spyware.

First of all, there are programs that can boost internet download speeds, but they only work when you have bandwidth to spare...and with dial up you don't have any additional bandwidth that such a program can use.

Your dial-up will only deliver data to you at about 56kbps which is equal to 7 Kilobytes ( 7KB) every second MAX - to convert kilobits to kiloBytes you divide by 8. But to use a service like YouTube video you will need to be able to download the data at a rate of at least 500kbps which is equal to about 63KB per second... That's nine times faster than your dial-up. Most broadband speeds are well above 500kbps so on the average broadband connection these days, you can watch several videos with the same connection if you were so inclined. Getting a broadband package will LITERALLY change your life. After i got mine there was no way i was going to settle for dial-up again. Instead of files taking half an hour to download, i get them in seconds. Watching video online is a breeze; I can use VOIP programs like Skype while watching YouTube video and there's no delays or stuttering.

As for the other problems you're having -

A great free antivirus is AVG. It's very effective against both spyware and viruses and millions of people use it.  It even helps you stay away from nasty bug-infested search results in Google, by telling you which links are safe and which are not.

    or you can go to

    http://www.download.com/AVG-Anti-Virus-F...

I should warn you that the installation file is 46MB in size which is pretty much average these days as installation files go. Another reason to switch to broadband. This file may take you an hour to get via dial-up but will take you 1-2 minutes max using standard broadband.

You should uninstall any toolbars and then run a program called Adaware - it checks your system for spyware and removes them. There are also commercially available spyware tools that you could purchase, but Adaware is free.

The surest way to get rid of all your spyware and correct any system problems is to backup all of your essential files - pictures, music, bookmarks, videos, document files etc, and reinstall windows. To do this you get your windows CD and insert it into the DVD drive and restart...you may have to make some changes to the order in which the system boots the drives by pressing the delete button as you start the PC and making the necessary changes in the system BIOS settings. When you get the install disc running you should choose the option that lets you completely reformat the hard-drive so that all the windows system files will be freshly installed. Make sure you have your windows serial key handy before you do any of this. You will need it during the installation.

As for Windows Media player, you may not have enough Ram currently available to run it efficiently, especially if you have viruses and spyware sapping up all your Ram memory. To cut down on Media player's memory and CPU use, try disabling the visualisations..that alone can cut CPU utilization down by half. You can try a program called MediaMonkey. It organizes music in a similar way to Media player and has a free version that's pretty much fully featured.

  7. Mike B...gave you the perfect answer and another thing is that your internet provider is also right...the only way to speed up your internet system is to get cable or dsl and you cant watch youtube videos using dial up...the bit rate is just too slow....kay;;;;
