i bought an albino female lovebird for my fischer lovebird. When i brought her home, they got along well, my fischer was cleaning her and she was cleaning him back in return. All looked well, and the next morning i woke up, i found the albino lovebird dead on the cage floor.

i went back to the bird shop i bought from and asked her what happened? and she said that maybe the bird was too scared/coward and then just died.

This time she gave me another female lovebird.

my bird got along well...

and again... next morning i woke up, the bird was alive still...

but then later afternoon when my husband got home, it was dead..

what happened? is it the bird shop lady sold me sick birds? or is it really because they just comitted suicide?

im very upset..

  1. yea probally she is...i subjest not to buy any from there anymore they can be ill and can pass it to your bird.and it  can die also.so you should probally buy on at a breeder.and watch them love birds closely.(and also it may just like to be alone)

  2. when you put and older bird with a newer on together the older one ends up killing the younger one, i don't know why but that's what happened to 3 of the birds i bought... i wounder what someone else has to say

  3. Get your money back and go to a bird breeder.

  4. You should NOT be putting a "new" bird into the same cage with your "old" bird!

The new one needs its OWN space for a while to get accustomed to the new place and feel safe from the OTHER bird.

DON'T get another one until you can afford a second cage.

Birds don't commit suicide. They die from being handed over to stupid owners.

  5. Did you see the bird eat and drink. Where was your seed and water. Could they find it. just because your bird finds food and water does not mean a new bird will. There should be multiple feeding and watering stations for a new bird

Then why did you put them together. Side by side for a few days is better but only after 30 day quarantine to be sure the new bird is healthy

  6. That's never happened to me before but when I was younger we always had birds.  Some lived a long time and some had a short life.

Depending on the age difference I guess the other one could be killing it.  Just a day and 2 days is pretty quick.  I don't think I would get another one and put it in the same cage.  If you do you may try putting it in another cage and putting the cages next to each other until they seem to get along.  But I'm still not sure I would risk it's life and put them together.

But I don't think she is selling you sick birds.
