LPGA giants vie for Rolex Player of the Year Award
With the 2012 LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) season nearing its end, top-ranked players have ramped up their efforts to win the Rolex Player of the Year Award, but the recent
tournaments are enough to give fans a glimpse of who is more likely to be at the top.
American Stacy Lewis currently looks as fired up as she was at the start of the 2012 season, as the star golfer has recorded fourteen top-10 finishes including three victories so far — something
that has helped her stay ahead of the pack.
Having earned 184 points, Lewis is sure to get a Hall of Fame point if she maintains her lead till the end of the 2012 season.
The last tournament, Navistar LPGA Classic 2012, proved to be the most momentous so far in the current season, as Lewis displayed a solid performance to clinch her third victory of the year.
According to the LPGA points system, players who finish first are awarded 30 points while those who record a second-place finish are given 12 points.

3rd - 9 points
4th - 7 points
5th - 6 points
6th - 5 points
7th - 4 points
8th - 3 points
9th - 2 points
10th -1 points
Keeping in view the current positions, Lewis is likely to see an intense competition as other players will also be trying to improve their points in the coming weeks.
With the Tour set to stage its last six tournaments, players have plenty of chances to boost their positions.
As most of the American players are struggling to regain their lost glory as Asians are now in the leading position on the Tour, fans have pinned their hopes on Lewis, expecting her to put
the country’s name back in the limelight.
“We’re asked all of the time ‘Where are the American players? What’s going on?” Lewis said while speaking to the media in her latest interview.
Current world number one Yani Tseng is standing at the third position on the Rolex Player of the Year Award list. Although Tseng has performed worse than usual in most of the recent tournaments,
she is struggling to regain her form and rebound in the coming tournaments.
