LPGA star Michelle Wie keen to move ahead
American Michelle Wie might not have done her best in recent LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) tournaments, but she has what it takes to become the best in women’s golf.
Wie took part in the US Women’s Open 2012, held at Blackwolf Run, Kohler, and finished tied for the 35th position on the leaderboard. Although she could not give a tough to her rivals, she has shown that she is keen to reshape her game and move up in the rankings table.
The American star has been seeking to record a victory since her last triumph at the CN Canadian Women’s Open in the 2010 season. So far, she has found it a little hard to get back on track, as she has been trying to fix lapses in her game.
When it comes to fame game, Wie appears have to eclipsed most of the big names on the LPGA Tour. However, analysts have said that the professional golfer should now see beyond fame and popularity.
Staying winless for several months has certainly done enough damage to Wie’s credibility, but given her strength and work ethic, a strong comeback cannot be ruled out.
Wie, a professional since 2005, is one of the most senior golfers in the current LPGA roster, and has taken a fair amount of time to prove her mettle in some of the tournaments.
Having gained an opportunity to play at the US Women’s Open 2012, one of the major tournaments on the LPGA, Wie must be having the best year of her professional career.
The American prodigy talked to the media and shared how she felt after playing at the major tournament. She said that she is going to capitalise on the experience she has gained through facing top-ranked LPGA stars.
“I'm going to take all of it and learn from it. Obviously there was a lot of positives this week that I will take on. There are some things I need to work on, but at the same time this week was a definite confidence-booster for me,” the famed golfer said.
Wie said that she is aware of her flaws, and is trying to fix them. “Being in contention again, it didn't work out for me today but just being up there? Contention for me kind of got my juices flowing and kind of made me want it more and felt like what it was like again”.
