LPGA star Natalie Gulbis poses nude for a swimsuit promo
LPGA s*x symbol Natalie Gulbis has done it again, posing for a body-painted photo shoot for the Sports Illustrated's recently released swimsuit issue.
Gulbis, a professional golfer on the LPGA, is known for her bold public overtures in the past and has featured before in several of the nude photo shoots to gain publicity, although she insists that she merely enjoys attention.
Gulbis was featured in the add along with two other athletes, U.S. swimmer Natalie Coughlin and U.S. soccer star Alex Morgan in a body-paint swimsuit advertisement and regarded it as an honour to be part of the project.
Gulbis said, "[A]nyone who has ever done swimsuit or fashion modelling, or as an athlete, just to be invited is a huge honour. It’s something I’ve wanted to be a part of for quite a few years, and I was so excited”.
The photo shoot lasted for gruesome 13 hours and the 29-year-old Gulbis later disclosed that the paint came off with a single wash.
“The most pressure was when they were taking pictures," she said. "I was so nervous. You’re up there, and they’re playing club music and everyone is having fun and dancing around. They might forget that you’re naked, but
you don’t forget that you’re naked. And everybody’s watching you”.
Gulbis has been part of the LPGA since the year 2002 after she turned professional the previous year. Hailing from a Latvian descent, Gulbis has won three professional events in her career.
Starting off as young as a four-year-old, Gulbis won her first tournament at the age of seven and claims that she broke par at the age of ten.
Gulbis is known for her off-course publicity stunts. She released a calendar in 2005 just before the 2004 US Women’s Open, in order to drive attention towards her on the course.
The United States Golf Association (USGA) placed a ban on it and barred it from being sold at the venue and considered it inappropriate of the stature of a USGA member.
The calendar was openly sold on the Canadian Tour where the critics claimed that the USGA overreacted to the issue.
Because of her indecent indulgence on media, Gulbis has been able to attract numerous endorsement deals ranging from RSM McGladrey, TaylorMade/Adidas, Canon, Michelob Ultra, SkyCaddie, Payment Data Systems, MasterCard, Winn Golf Grips, Lake Las Vegas Resort
and EA Sports.
Apart from her three professional victories, Gulbis has also been part of the 12-member field at the Solheim Cup in the years 2005, 2007, and 2009.
The young golfer carded her strongest finish in a major event, The Kraft Nabisco Championship, pulling in a solid joint third.
She is also the host of the Natalie Gulbis Show on Golfchannel which made its debut in the year 2005. She writes a weekly column in FHM.
