LPGA star Se Ri Pak finishes inside top 10 in France
South Korean Se Ri Pak, who is one of the most talented players on the LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) Tour, could not impress her fans at the Evian Masters 2012 but was happy enough to be in the top 10 at the tournament.
Pak was among the hot favourite contenders for the Evian Masters 2012, played at Evian-les-Bains, France, but she made a few mistakes in the opening round and could not get off to a solid start.
The South Korean star enjoys a huge fan following, and she was happy to receive a much-needed support by the spectators in France. She kicked off the first round with confidence, but could not make the most of her vast experience. She finished the round with a score of 70.
However, in the second round, Pak ramped up pressure on her rivals by improving her score. She stunned her rivals after she posted a 69 each in the second, third and fourth round.
Analysts said that Pak is not one of those golfers who walk away without putting a tough fight. The Evian Masters 2012 saw the 34-year-old show her real skills on some of the holes. She troubled her rivals, but players like South Korean Inbee Park and American Stacy Lewis made it hard for her to advance.
Pak has recorded 25 victories on the LPGA Tour so far — something that reflects her solid position in women’s golf. In addition to proving her mettle on the LPGA Tour, the star golfer also made a name for herself on the LPGA of Korea Tour, where she has racked up 7 titles so far.
Of the 25 LPGA victories, the South Korean golfer has recorded five major wins.
Inbee Park won the title at Evian-les-Bains after she scored an overall 271. In the third round, Park battled rivals, which also included Se Ri Pak, with full confidence, and posted a 70.
“Today was a tough day. Out of all three days, the playing conditions were the toughest today because of a little bit of rain and wind. But really satisfied the way I hang in there today. Still putted good today, so I'm really happy,” Pak said at the end of the third round.
