LPGA teen Jessica Korda improves gradually
American Jessica Korda, who kicked off the current season in an impressive style and racked up her first LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) title at the Women’s Australian Open in February, is eyeing more wins in the coming tournaments.
Korda has been seeking to make a name for herself in women’s golf since turning professional in the 2010 season. The American star, who is never satisfied with less than her best, saw her star rise when she won her first LPGA triumph earlier this year.
Analysts said that the professional golfer has been desperately seeking to boost her position in the Women’s World Golf Rankings. Currently ranked 75th in the world, Korda likes to spend plenty of time on the practice range, analysing and observing where she might improve.
Analysts pointed out that the victory at Australia came as a big surprise to the 19-year-old golfer, as no one had expected her to outperform big names. She looked stunning on the course in Australia, as she made near-flawless strokes on almost all the holes.
The young prodigy has been faltering since hoisting her first title, but her hope has not faded at all. She knows how to keep moving ahead, as she told in one of her interviews that she learnt a lot in the 2011 season.
Korda said that she admits that she had been a bit troubled about her game for months after she became pro, as she did not know what to do to improve her ranking. She said that at first she dreaded a professional golf because she had no idea how she would cope with all the attention and tough competition.
The rising star said that she had been lucky to have people like Jack Nicklaus by her side, who came to rescue her. She said that she desperately needed some meaningful help regarding her game, and Nicklaus proved to be the best choice, as he had been with her every step of the way.
Korda participated in the US Women’s Open 2012, held at Blackwolf Run, Kohler, a couple of days ago. The American teen displayed a balanced game, as she finished tied for the 39th position on the leaderboard after shooting an overall 300.
