  1. Many LPN's take the next step and become RN's.  Based on experience and a work ethic, an LPN applying to a nursing program would be a desirable candidate.  It is also worth the time and effort to become an RN since you can expect to double or triple your annual income (depending on where you live).

Other things LPN's can "move on" to include; Public Health, School Nursing, Sales, Insurance Companies, Clinics, Fitness Centers, Diet Programs, the military, occupational health in industry, education, and most likely a few more.

Needless to say good luck to you in your career.

  2. I have been an LPN/LVN (dpends on the state) Since 1992

I have worked in the ER, ICU, urgent care clinics, and many of clinics

Some go back and get their RN others don't

I have also worked in a large insurance Company reaearching medical records

Also now i work for Hospice, and enjoy that very much

Depends on what state you are practicing in, some states like Texas

you can do just about anyting an RN does and others Like Wisconsin

that limits what you can do, like starting IV's

ANother postion most don't think about is working in prisons and jails

the state prisions have wonderful benefits, if you can handle that enviroment.

Home health is another option that uses LVN/LPN

    good luck

    and go to:  www.payscale.com

and see what lpn's make just put in your city and state and answer like you are actully working

  3. Many community colleges offer LPN to RN briding programs. Some will become RNs and some won't. It all depends on your personal goals. Most hospitals prefer to hire RNs. However there are plenty of jobs for LPNs in nursing homes, assisted living, and home health care. They can also work in correctional facilites and group homes.
