La Aguada qualifies for Chamber of Deputies Cup
La Aguada emerged victorious in their crucial Chamber of Deputies Cup (Copa Cámara de Diputados) semi-final against La Esquina- LaBocha.com, at Pilar in the premises of Argentina Association of Polo (AAP), situated in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
The first semi-final of the event was contested between La Esquina-LaBocha and La Aguada, where La Aguada delivered a disciplined and mature performance to confirm their spot in the final of the tournament.
Some seventeen foursomes having 24 to 30 handicaps were taking part in the event including La Aguada (30), Black Watch (27), Chapa Uno (27), Venado Tuerto Group Brooksfield (24), Araucaria La Paloma Embriones (24), La Quinta Beaufort (29), Coronel Suarez
La Maroma (27), La Virgencita - Loro Piana (27), La Canada La Margarita, (24), Magual Dona Pilar (29), La Quinta La Aventura (27), La Mariana Sollys (27), La Picaza (25), Sol de Agosto (28), La Matera (28), La Esquina-LaBocha.com (26) and Martindale Deutsche
Bank (26).
The semi-finalist foursome La Esquina-LaBocha.com comprised of Pascual Vicuna (5), Rodrigo Rueda (6), Juan Gris Zavaleta (7) and Alejandro Diaz Alberdi (8), while replacing player was James Tanoira.
On the other hand Julio Novillo Astrada (8), Ezequiel Martinez Ferrario (7), Manuel Crespo (7) Alejandro Novillo Astrada (8) represented the La Aguada foursome.
La Aguada qualified for the final of the tournament after a fairly easy win against La Esquina- LaBocha.com, who tried to stamp their authority on the game, but failed to defend well against some measured attacks from La Aguada.
The Astrada brothers, Julio and Alejandro, were instrumental in La Aguada’s push towards victory.
The first chukker of the game was started by a pair of goals from Julio Astrada; one came from a penalty shot and the other from the field. Alejandro Astrada later scored another to put La Aguada ahead by three goals.
Alejandro Alberdi scored the first goal for La Esquina - LaBocha.com. However La Aguada responded with a goal apiece from Julio Astrada and Manuel Crespo.
The second and third chukkers of the game were a bit slow, as both squads could only score two goals apiece. The Astrada brothers scored one goal each for their side, while Juan Zavaleta and Rodrigo scored two goals for the La Esquina, and moved ahead to
the third frame with 7-3.
Manuel Crespo and Julio Astrada scored two goals off penalty shots at the start of the second half. La Esquina responded through Juan Zavaleta, who scored two goals.
The fifth chukker of the game was quite entertaining, as both La Agauda strikers found their rhythm. Julio Astrada scored a hat-trick, while Manuel Crespo scored another to ensure victory for their team.
La Esquina on the other hand could only manage one goal, which they obtained by handicap.
In the final chukker, Pascual Vicuna and James Tanoira of La Esquina marked two goals to reduce the deficit somewhat. However, it was too little too late, as Manuel Crespo and Julio Astrada scored a pair of goals from penalty shots and the field to give
La Aguada a comfortable 16-8 victory.
Julio Novilo Astrada was the games top goal scorer with nine goals, while his team-mates Manuel Crespo and Alejandro Novillo Astrada scored four and three goals respectively. For La-Esquina, Juan Zavaleta and Alejandro Alberdi contributed with three and
two goals respectively. Pascual Vicuna and James Tanoira scored a goal apiece for the losing side.
La Aguada will face La Virgencita - Loro Piana or Magual Dona Pilar in the final of the Chamber of Deputies Cup on 12 December.
