La Dolfina Dubai beats La Aguada, now to face Ellerstina in the Argentina Open Polo Championship Finals
Adolfo Cambiaso, one of the best polo pros in the world, struck eight notches during La Dolfina’s encounter against La Aguada MBW and led the former foursome to a heavy margin victory, 15-7, while securing a place in the finals
of the Argentina Open Polo Championship.
The semi-final encounter was played at the Cathedral of Polo, in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
La Aguada had a fine beginning but its good form was destroyed by La Dolfina’s strikers, it failed to regain the same impetus and lost the game by eight scores.
Miguel Astrada and Javier Astrada were replaced by Ignacio Toccalino and Julio Novillo Astrada, which was a big shock for La Aguada.
Nonetheless, they attempted to start the game with great courage and determination, but they failed to uphold their momentum.
Interestingly, the two teams marked one goal each during the first seven and a half minutes of play.
The slow-paced game continued in the second frame of the match, where both the foursomes added one notch each, taking the score up to two-all.
Regardless of numerous attacks and counterattacks in the third set, the two teams remained blank during the seven and a half minutes of play. The duo was stuck in a two-all deadlock after the three chukkas of play.
The thrilling action began in the fourth set of play where both the teams started playing a fast and a furious game.
Pablo MacDonough recorded a couple of goals while his teammate, Adolfo Cambiaso, accompanied him from a field notch.
Nacho Astrada registered the only goal of the chukka for La Aguada, closing the first half of play trailing behind by two goals, 5-3.
La Dolfina continued its dominance in the fifth set of play, acquiring four more goals in a very short span of time. On the other hand, the resilient defence from La Dolfina did not allow much action to La Aguada attackers.
Cambiaso and his defenseman, David Stirling, registered a couple of back to back goals, taking the score to 7-3.
Julio Astrada marked the only goal of the frame through field effort that was answered by a pair of goals from La Dolfina. La Dolfina was sitting ahead by five goals, 9-4, with three chukkas left to play.
La Aguada acquired two more goals while holding La Dolfina only for a single notch. Nacho Astrada and Ignacio Toccalino led the action for La Aguada while Cambiaso gained a signle point advantage, throughout the period.
However, La Dolfina had a strong grip on the scoreboard with a 10-6 edge.
MacDonough and Cambiaso scored two and one goals, respectively, for La Dolfina, in the second last chukka. The rivals failed to add any scores in the period, trailing behind by seven goals, 13-6.
MacDonough and Cambiaso lit the lamp once each in the final frame that was answered by a lone notch from Julio Astrada.
La Dolfina won the match by 15-7 and will face Ellerstina in the title-claiming match of the Argentina Open Polo Championship.
