La Dolfina registers victory over Pilara Piaget in the Argentina Open Polo Championship: 20-7
The La Dolfina players had only one thing in their minds when they started playing the second game of the Argentina Open Polo Championship, which was to win the game with a heavy margin and uphold their victorious streak. Adolfo Cambiaso-led foursome did
exactly that by rolling to a big, 20-7, win over Pilara Piaget, at the Cathedral of Polo, in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Bautista Heguy kicked off the scoring for Pilara Piaget by scoring a goal from the field. However, it failed to keep La Dolfina off the scoreboard.
In a matter of a few seconds, David Stirling notched a goal for La Dolfina, tying the knots at one-all.
Pablo MacDonough helped La Dolfina in increasing its lead with a field goal. Despite Cambiaso missing a penalty shot, La Dolfina held a 2-1 advantage after the first seven and a half minutes of play.
Juan Martin Nero and his teammate, MacDonough, scored one goal apiece, taking the La Dolfina’s lead up to three goals.
In the later period, Cambiaso whacked a penalty shot, expanding the lead for his team. In an outstanding manner, La Dolfina’s defenseman tackled the penalty shot taken by Luke Tomlinson.
In the closing moments of the second chukka, another notch from Nero from the field effort, raising La Dolfina’s score to 6-1.
Both, La Dolfina and Pilara Piaget, struck one goal each in the seven and a half minutes of play, taking the score up to 7-2.
Heguy helped Pilara Piaget to make a comeback into the match. Taking advantage of the errors, he scored three back to back goals, reducing the difference to two goals.
La Dolfina’s skipper, Adolfo Cambiaso recorded a goal, stretching the lead once again up to three goals, 8-5, at halftime.
Cambiaso guided the players in the tiny break between the two halves and they performed accordingly. The fifth, sixth and seventh chukkas belonged to La Dolfina where it completely warded off the strikes of Pilara Piaget.
Cambiaso obtained a couple of penalty goals while his teammates, Stirling and Nero, accompanied him from the field notches. La Dolfina was hanging on to a seven-goal lead, 12-5, at the end of the fifth set of play.
Once again Cambiaso, MacDonough and Stirling led the action for La Dolfina, notching two, one and one goal, respectively. A 16-5 lead was enough to determine the endurance of the La Dolfina players in the game.
Same players with different configuration scored one goal each in the second last chukka. Pilara was trailing by fourteen goals, 19-5, with seven minutes left to fight.
In the final action, Heguy and Hilario Ulloa scored one notch each, showing their presence on the field. Stirling registered the closing goal and sealed the victory for La Dolfina by 20-7.
