La Dolfina thrashes Chapa Uno Hope Funds in Argentina Open Polo Championship
Undoubtedly, La Dolfina Dubai is having one of its highest scoring seasons and it has no plans of slowing down anytime soon. The Adolfo Cambiaso-led quartet stayed invincible, destroying Chapa Uno Hope Funds, 23-10, in the maiden fixture of the 118th
Argentina Open Polo Championship.
The highest-scoring game was played at the Campo Argentino de Polo (Cathedral of Polo), in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on November 19.
Seasoned polo pro, Adolfo Cambiaso, recorded nine goals in the eight-chukka competition, allowing La Dolfina to mark a heavy-margin victory.
Cambiaso fired off the opening goal through a penalty conversion while his teammate, David Stirling, joined him from the field.
Guillermo Caset added Chapa Uno’s first to finally put his side on the scoreboard. La Dolfina held a 2-1 lead at the end of the first chukka.
The La Dolfina players kept Chapa Uno at bay during the second round, stretching the advantage up to four goals, 5-1. A couple of goals from Juan Martin Nero and a single penalty shot from Cambiaso helped La Dolfina to tighten its grip over the game.
Stepping up the speed in the third frame, Chapa Uno acquired three goals against the four of their rivals.
The troika of Jaime Huidobro, Polito Pieres and Caset did the action for Chapa Uno while Nero, David Stirling and Pablo MacDonough registered two, one and one goals, respectively, for La Dolfina. La Dolfina was enjoying a five goal edge, 9-4, after the three
chukkas of play.
A field goal from Caset opened the fourth set of play but it was the only goal for Chapa Uno in the seven and a half minutes of play.
Cambiaso joined MacDonough’s two goals with a single notch, expanding the lead for La Dolfina up to seven, 12-5, at halftime.
Once more Chapa Uno recorded only a single goal in the fifth set of play and that too was scored by Caset, in the beginning minute of the period.
Cambiaso whacked a pair of penalty shots, while helping Stirling to add a goal from the field. Chapa Uno was trailing behind by nine goals, 15-6, with three chukkas left to fight.
In an outstanding move, Chapa Uno acquired two goals while minimising La Dolfina only for a single notch. Cambiaso registered a field goal against the two goals of Caset. Chapa Uno reduced the differece down to eight goals, 16-8.
Regaining stride, Nero nailed in a brace of goals while Cambiaso accompanied him with a single point. Pieres was the scorer for Chapa Uno, the team that was lagging behind by ten goals, 19-9 before going in for the final action.
The one-sided action continued in the final chukka, with La Dolfina scoring four goals while allowing Chapa Uno only one. Following a brilliant show, La Dolfina won the maiden game of the Argentina Open Championship by 23-10.
