La Estrella likely to claim victory in Claiming Stakes
La Estrella seems to be confident enough to claim top spot in the CPMG Nottingham Architects Claiming Stakes, a high-stakes Class 5 contest that is going to take place at Southwell racecourse today, May 23.
On the standard track of 1 mile and 4 furlongs, the Don Cantillon-trained bay gelding will face 4 worthy rivals such as Dontpaytheferryman, Enroller, Aragorn Rouge and Jack Dawkins. The prize purse contains £2,386.
La Estrella possesses an epic track record. Unbelievably, the 51-race veteran horse has won 19 victories to his name. His career is marked with excellent success streaks.
It is amazing to note that the maverick sprinter elegantly won 6 races in a row from February 1 to May 19, 2011. This was indeed a marvellous achievement.
Towards the end of 2011, the talented son of Theatrical out of Princess Ellen picked up form again and registered s glaring triumph each on November 3 and December 28. He extended his winning momentum to 2012 as well and bagged a couple of consecutive victories
during January-February--- he had been a hot-favourite runner for both the events.
Currently, La Estrella is awash with fighting spirit and winning momentum that is a prelude of his splendid performance in the Claiming Stakes.
The horse will be able to finish first convincingly and none of his rivals is likely to create any hurdle for him; however, Dontpaytheferryman and Aragorn Rouge have enough potential to fight for the second top position.
Dontpaytheferryman also owns a decent track record. The Brian Ellison-trained veteran gelding has won 14 of his total 60 starts to date. Since the dawn of 2012, the experienced horse has been in good form.
After bagging a couple of consecutive triumphs in January, he finished first in Scottish Racing Your Best Bet Handicap Hurdle on February 16.
On the other hand, Aragorn Rouge excellently won a race each on January 13 and February 3, 2012. The John Wainwright-trained finished as a runner-up in his second last start on February 24. He grabbed a third in the subsequent outing on March 2.
Let us enjoy a fabulous action today. The Claiming Stakes will attract a large number of the sport fans. Good luck to La Estrella.
