La Liga: David Silva goes to Manchester City Valencia nearing bankruptcy

Valencia is facing a lot of financial problems, as the club is nearing bankruptcy and had to let go of the big players. First, David Villa joined Barcelona and then his Spanish counterpart, David Silva, leaves La Liga and goes to Manchester City, to play in the EPL.

The 24 year old David Silva is one of the best wingers in the Spanish League, as he has blessed his team with a lot of quality and excellence. Due to his immense talent, he has been spotted by all the big clubs, especially the English clubs. In his early football days, he was spotted by Arsene Wenger, who wanted him to be a part of his Arsenal side. Silva came close to a move in English Premier League last year, when Manchester United showed a keen interest in this talented midfielder. However, Silva stayed with his club, showing his support despite the failing financial structure. Only after getting Valencia back into the Champions League position, David Silva decided to leave the club for a much better opportunity. Therefore this year, many clubs were chasing him, but in this race Chelsea and Manchester City were in front. Both clubs have big transfers with money flowing in from the foreign owners, but Manchester City finally got the deal.

Valencia will face a lot of problems, especially after losing the David duo, as they have helped their team to victory, on a number of occasions. David Silva had been playing an instrumental role on the left wing of Valencia, while developing immense coordination with Villa, who also played as a forward on the left side. But, this is another way in which these players are helping their team, as their transfer would provide Valencia with the money that is much needed at the club. Also, the qualification into Champions League, once again, will mean that the club will raise extra funds for being in the European competition. This is the maximum that a player can do for his club, as Silva is still a youngster whose talent was being withheld at a club like Valencia.

The only good reason for David Silva to join Manchester City is the prospect of winning trophies. There is a good chance that the club will be able to challenge for the top spot in the Premiership, in the next season. Manchester City has already gotten to Yaya Toure of Barcelona, who will play alongside his brother Kolo Toure, the captain of the squad, for the first time in his career. Also, the City’s squad is already full of some quality players, like Tevez, Santa Cruz and Bellamy, thus adding David Silva to the squad is just an icing on the cake.

Apart from a big loss for the Valencia, there is also a big loss for the Spanish La Liga fans. In recent years, there is a heavy trend of the movement of players from the Premiership into La Liga, especially when Henry, Cristiano Ronaldo and Xabi Alonso were signed by the Spanish clubs. These were the best players in the EPL, and their loss saw a deterioration of football in England. However, only Fernando Torres made it into EPL, from the Spanish League, which did nothing but weaken the Atletico Madrid squad. Now, Valencia’s squad is weakening as well, which means that next year, once again, the battle for the top spot will be between Real Madrid and Barcelona. There will not be any other team to challenge these two clubs in Europe, right now. Thus, a two-sided season would be a big blow to the football in Spain.

On the other hand, the competition will be getting tougher in EPL. Already this year, Liverpool was relieved of its position in top four, by Tottenham Hotspurs, and Manchester City will look to do the same next year. This will definitely help in developing people’s interest more in EPL, than in the La Liga. With the current squad, Roberto Mancini, City’s boss, will be one of the happiest managers in EPL right now.
